"Kenduri Sotong" @ Syed Ali with World Cup 2010 Finals Replay

Don't get me wrong, I don't believe at all that Paul the Octopus is any different than any of his millions of other octopus buddies, but all this incessant talking about octopus made me crave for SOTONG!

So we headed off the UKM Wondergirls' favourite 'sotong' place (actually it serves Malaysian/Thai food), Restoran Syed Ali in Wangsa Maju. We used to come here so often that we actually got tired of the food, but it had been AGES since our last visit.

Just as we sat down, we noticed our perfect timing. The World Cup 2010 final match Spain vs Netherlands replay was just getting into extra time. We ordered:

• Sotong Goreng Tepung (of course!)

• Tom Yam Campur (with sotong!)

• Kangkung Goreng Belacan (which also came with sotong!)

• Telur Bistik (no sotong to be found)

The food was amazing! Seriously. The Sotong Goreng Tepung was nice and crunchy, the Tom Yam had just the right amount of sourness and heat and even the vegetables tasted great. The fried egg in the Telur Bistik was a bit oily but the sauce was nice. Zil is right, things always taste better if we have them once in a while.

GOOOOOOOOAAAALLLLLLLLL! I finally got to see the winning goal that won Spain the World Cup. Well deserved.

By the way Paul is safe..I don't eat octopus. We all know that sotong is squid..hehe.
