My father was a kampung boy from Gedong, Sarawak. He came from a poor family, the 3rd of 7 children. Lost his own father at a young age and almost had to quit school because there simply wasn't enough money.
Through all the adversities in his life, he has (in my opinion) emerged triumphant. Currently he is a Professor at International Islamic University, Malaysia. His field, Landscape Architecture with a specialty in Islamic Design. His coup de grace to date is being one of the consultants for the Masjidul Haram development.
He remains the humblest of men. A much loved lecturer who always supports his students, a man who is not ashamed of his humble past instead is proud of his Sarawakian heritage.
Growing up, the things I learnt;
- He was very strict AND I learnt to be disciplined.
- He valued knowledge AND I learnt to excell.
- He cherished family AND I learnt the value of mine.

I have disappointed him many times, believe me. And I will continue to disappoint him, no doubt. Hehe. But I also know that I have made him proud and happy many times too and InsyaAllah I will continue to do so.

So for Abah, who hates celebrating any "Days" (birthdays, mother's day etc)... Happy Father's Day! Psst..don't tell him.
