I never cry at weddings

(pic source)

I never cry at weddings
Full of joy instead
Happy for my friends
The life they have ahead

I never cry at weddings
What reason could there be
Love ever after is in the air
Joyous people surrounding me

I never cry at weddings
And that is exactly why
The tears you think you see
Just something in my eye

Turning the page

Dreams shatter even when we're not asleep,
In fact they were never ours to keep
Vast chasms develop slowly over time
Our voices muted turn to mime
Regrets and memories intertwine
Crossing over the blurry line
Even through this worldly test
Doing only what we thought was best

PS: I'm sorry. For all my mistakes over the years. To all family and friends, forgive me for not being the person you wanted me to be. Hope all your prayers are with us now.

Stream vs Lorry

Stream vs Lorry
The lorry ran away
Was alone in the car
Shaken but I'm okay

Stream vs Lorry
What can I say
Except I will miss you
While you're away

Stream vs Lorry
Am thankful and come what may
Though bad things happen
I get to live another day

False memories

(pic source)
Isn't it strange the things we remember,
And the things we forget,
The images that linger,
And the ones that slip through the net

Isn't it funny the moments that remain crystal clear,
And the one that we simply throw away,
The ones we hold dear,
And remember to this day,

Isn't it curious what we hold on to,
Though many years have passed,
The facts that still remain true,
The memories that lasts

Isn't it peculiar how the past was different,
Even though the moments were shared,
But what matters is the present,
Another broken bridge repaired

Merdeka! Happy Birthday sayang

Yousof made this!

Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!

I don't think there are more excited kids out there than mine. They woke up at the crack of dawn today full of anticipation. Though, I doubt that they know exactly what Merdeka means. At least they aren't shouting "Mendekar!" like last year..hehe.

Thankfully, their Tok Wan managed to procure some free mini Jalur Gemilangs for them to wave enthusiastically. Although it was kind of dangerous because Hamzah preferred to bonk his siblings on the head with his flag rather than wave it in a patriotic fashion. Instead of singing the normal Merdeka anthem ("tanggal 31 bulan 8 ..57"), we all sang a song that everyone knew the lyrics to. "Happy Birthday!"

Because today is also the day that my little princess Aishah turns 3 years old.

If I don't say it enough, remember I love you
If I don't show it enough, remember I love you
If I can't give you enough, remember I love you
If I can't or don't or won't ...remember I love you

Remember I love you from that very first day
Remember I love you no matter what I say
Remember I love you come what may
Remember I love you in my own way

Post kampung blues

Nice view
 I Don't Wanna

I don't wanna do anything,
Nothing is all I wanna do,
Except maybe sleep a little longer,
Now that is absolutely true

I don't wanna get out of bed,
Or go to work today,
Just wanna stay under the covers,
No matter what you say

I don't wanna be here right now,
Somewhere else I wanna be,
Where deadlines do not exist,
Someone come and rescue me

Not my feet :(

Shhh! Top Secret!

A secret that I can't tell,
Soon I will if all goes well,
Just for all of you out there,
Something that I want to share,

A secret project still not done,
Something interesting and alot of fun,
A little experiment so to speak,
Will let you all know next week,

A secret dream that I've always had,
Some will say I'm completely mad,
To try something so absurd,
Shhh! Can't say another word!

Wait and see ;)

We sent you a ship of peace- Israel attacks humanitarian envoy

We sent you a ship of peace

We sent you a ship of peace
Of love and hope so true
You shoot and kill those on board
Destroying is what best you do

We sent you a ship of peace
With aid to help those in need
You simply laugh at our efforts
With pride in your despicable deed

We sent you a ship of peace
Unarmed and not hostile at all
You accuse and lie and manipulate
While the 'great powers' mumble and stall

We send you a ship of peace
A gesture of solidarity amongst brothers
What do you care when you are but a country
Born from the blood of others

Israel attacks a humanitarian envoy. America is "saddened" and will "investigate". Malaysia is "apalled". Letters are written, memorendums are handed over. People die and we sit and do nothing.

PS: I don't know what else to do but voice out my anger and disappointment and pray that Allah saves the innocent and crushes those monsters.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's SUPERMOM!

Loves of my life- Can't seem to find a more recent pic where I managed to get all 3 of them in one frame ..hehe

Before I became a mother myself, I probably did not fully comprehend the super-human skills required. Most mothers are actually a cocktail of all the heroes we know and love. Don't believe me? Read on. Mother's are:

Potrait of me by my 4 year old (Yousof)- I think I look better in the drawing

Wolverine (X-Men): Fiercely protective and have the uncanny ability to always heal. How else do they keep on loving us regardless of how many times we break their hearts?

The Incredible Hulk: Must be able to convincingly get angry when your kids step out of line. Green colour is optional (I tend to go all red.. hehe).

The Flash: Speeding here and there to meet the needs of your child. Also a definite requirement to be able to catch falling babies and toddlers (don't tell me it's just my children who love to fall from heights).

Batman: Caped crusader by night. All mother's must have the ability to stay up all night with a teething baby or a feverish toddler. The abilty to sleep while standing without dropping said baby is also a big bonus. Must also be able to function at the office the next day.

Superman: Mild-mannered person most of the time but when the need arises, able to move mountains to do what needs to be done. Juggling family and a career, even superman pales in comparison.

Yup, one day a year is definitely not enough to show our appreciation to the person who's contributions to our lives we can never hope to repay, but it's a start.

MY mak (and abah in the background)- she's beautiful right?

For all the things you have given me
Each burden you've carried silently
For all the sacrifices you've had to make
All you've done was for our sake

I know I can never repay you
Or even hope to come any where near
But the only way I know how to
Is by telling you here

I pray that one day I can be
As good a mother as you have been to me
That you may forgive me for all I've done wrong
And love me like you have all along

A mother's love knows no end
It stretches far and near
And so today I sincerely send
All my love to my mother dear

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

He will be missed

Yesterday, I received some really sad news. My dear uncle, Pakcik Hassan, passed away at USM Hospital. He had suffered a stroke (CVA- cerebrovascular accident) a fortnight ago and since then had been treated in the ICU. He finally succumbed to multi-organ failure at approximate 9.30am yesterday.

He was my mother's second oldest brother. I will always remember him as a man who was never afraid to speak his mind. When I was a young girl, I was a bit intimidated by him. As I got older I realized that beneath his grizzly exterior was a kind heart.

He leaves behind a widow and 6 grown-up children and many grand-children who love him dearly. I am certain that all his nephews and nieces will also miss him. We pray that your soul will be among those blessed by Him.

This world is but a temporary place
We pause a while but can never stay
This fact though sometimes hard to face
Of which we are reminded everyday
So use the time we have as best we can
By being good and staying true
For time is merely like grains of sand
Forever slipping away from you

Priceless love

She doesn't look too happy does she? Hehe

Last Sunday, I went to visit cute little baby Amna Syamimi. The second daughter of one of my dearest friends, Keen. Since I was unfamiliar with Meru (where she lived), I went in convoy with my ex-roomie (back in Jasin) and good friend Reen. We ended up getting quite lost as it seems that every right turn led to Taman Saujana Meru, took us 3 right turns and 2 U-turns before we found the house.

Keen's husband had prepared a spread of delicious 'pisang goreng' and 'keropok lekor' with ice cool sirap. YUMMY. Almost cleaned of the whole plate and jug but was a bit shy as her aunt was also there visiting.

Little baby Amna was so well-behaved just lying there minding her own business without a care in the world. Big sister Afni was still adjusting to the new person in her life. Both mother and baby looked well.

So, on this happy occasion, I would like to congratulate Keen, Azri (her hubby) and Afni (big sis). May their lives be full of joy and love with the addition of Amna.

Sweet baby

And to baby Amna.. Auntie Hidayah wishes you:

  • will grow up to be a beautiful, smart, kind and caring person like your mother.
  • never have to worry about being anybody other than yourself.
  • always live your life surrounded by people you love and love you unconditionally

Sweet innocence of an untouched soul
Cherish all the beauty that you hold
Unblemished yet by life unknown
Reap later what you have sown
Hold her close and never fear
Love her and keep her near
Do teach her well and true
Give her the best of you
A baby to love and hold
Is sweet precious gold

The true test of friendship

Listen.. do not judge
Stand firm.. do not budge

Forgive.. all that is and ever was
Understand.. when no-one else does

Trust.. that all the words we said were true
Remember.. promises made between me and you

That..my dearest friend is how we pass the hardest test of all
Knowing.. somebody will always catch you no matter how far you fall

Good morning sunshine

Hope, is a powerful thing. When the whole world is bleak and EVERYTHING seems to be going wrong, sometimes it's the only thing that keeps us going. The fact that no matter how hard life hits us, the human spirit seems to always have the uncanny ability to search for the ever elusive silver lining.

Sure, some days it's harder to be optimistic, to have faith that things will get better. There are times when it seems so much easier to just crawl under some random rock and curl up in the fetal position. Personally, I think it's ok to allow yourself time to let bad news sink in. Grieving is an important part of the healing process. But always, always, always.. reach deep inside and find that little spark of hope and look straight ahead.. take a deep breath ..and start again.

Good Morning Sunshine

The hardest things to fight for are the ones that matter
Wipe the tears because things will get better
Take your time and pause for a while
Let me adjust your crooked smile
A second chance is on the way
Look it's a brand new day
For you to start again
I know you can
You do
Too
